Zeh Scherzer Covered Sugar Bowl or Serving Bowl # 27662

This is a Zeh Scherzer covered dish. The dish is round, but wider at the top than the base. Then, to make it more interesting, the top edge is uneven-higher on two opposite corners and lower on the other two. The dish is an ivory color with a repeating pattern of stripes in pink and gray. This dish comes with the matching lid. It is trimmed in gold and marked as shown. The dish has a 1949 to 1991 backstamp.

Because I cannot find a pattern name, I am not entirely sure what the purpose of this dish is. It could be a sugar bowl, but it does not have a spoon cut out in the lid. It could also be used as a honey pot, a jelly jar or any kind of serving bowl.

The base dish measures 5.25 inches across the high sides and is barely 5.00 inches wide across the low sides. It is 3 3/8 inches tall on the high side and 4.25 inches tall to the top of the handle.

The dish looks brand new. The inside is clean, the gold is shiny and it has no chips, cracks, or other damage.
